In the Mood for Mood Salon Hong Kong

Mood Salon Hong Kong

A few years ago, I wandered through my favourite neighbourhood in Hong Kong, PoHo. Nestled between Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun, PoHo has character, with narrow, steep stairways leading to hidden gems. Sometimes, it feels like the perfect blend of old Hong Kong and Parisian charm. Along the way, I discover small Buddhist temples where incense is lit and offerings are made. The fragrance here is unique. Hollywood Road, with its art galleries and iconic landmarks, runs through the area. Between the galleries, market stalls pop up, selling curiosities, vintage items, and more. Modern coffee parlours and impromptu street stalls add to the mix.

But the place that truly captures my heart is Mood Studio. Close to Soho House Hong Kong, this hair boutique is a real gem, full of retro references to In the Mood for Love, my favourite film by Wong Kar-Wai. Every visit feels like stepping into the world of the film. The space is charming, with details that evoke the timeless elegance of the movie.

In Hong Kong, shops constantly evolve. It’s never certain whether your favourite spots will still be around when you return. That’s why I feel fortunate to have found Mood Salon. The city remains a constant in the ever-changing landscape. Occasional artisan markets that pop up on weekends add to the charm. These entrepreneurs sell homemade soaps, handmade jewellery, and art. All crafted with love and attention, though they also have their main occupations during the week.

Whenever I’m in Hong Kong, I always make time for Mood Salon. It’s not just about a haircut or colour change. It’s the whole experience. My hairdresser, who knows exactly what I like, plays music I enjoy. I love being there—surrounded by the city’s energy, but in a peaceful space that feels like home away from home.

For me, it’s a unique experience, one I don’t find in Europe. In my opinion, this is the best hair studio in this metropolitan city. Getting my hair done at this boutique salon always feels more personal, more relaxed, and deeply connected to the vibrant soul of Hong Kong.
